Welcome to Mrs. Silko's Second Grade Class.
We hope everyone enjoyed our week of Catholic Schools Week Events! All are welcome to visit our classrooms displaying creative work that classes continue to do throughout the year!  Second graders displayed Robots that they made and wrote about on their creative idea mittens!  We displayed group Stem Projects using paper towel rolls and straws.  We wore pajamas to help support the Pajama Program on LI that gives pajamas to needy families.  We went on a field trip to the Cradle of Aviation!  We watched our teachers play volleyball against the 8th graders.  We even learned about the Egyptian Pharoahs from the 6th graders.  What an exciting week!   Come register and join our OLM family!
This year is a very special sacramental year.  We will be growing closer to Jesus as we prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.  We have Mass buddies at the 9:00 Mass and already gave them hearts to tell them that we are praying for them.
We will be exploring many scientific and community adventures in our Stem Room.  We already made rocket ships to go with our story, Exploring Space.
We will be reading fun and fascinating stories in our Reading Street Reader.  We already made smores over our pretend campfire.  The students made puppets and performed the plays The Strongest One and The Bremen Town Musicians for the first graders.
Hands on activities will help us understand important math lessons.
Each student received a handwriting award for printing and will now learn how to write letters in script!
Throughout the year we will get to go on educational field trips.
Let's dream and shoot for the stars, achieve as we try our best, and believe in each other as we show kindness and love as Jesus shows us.
