Mrs. Silko's 2A Class

Congratulations to our second graders who made their First Holy Communion on
Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00am!  The Mass was beautiful!
The second grade Communion Breakfast after the 9:00 Mass was wonderful!  The students had pancakes and the parents and grandparents helped serve!  Thank you to all those who helped!
The beautiful Communion banners are displayed in the hallway.

We have been visiting the Stem Room as we create our own town maps as part of our study of geography in Social Studies.  We also made fossils of our hands.
In Math, we are analyzing data in our chapter on graphing.  The children had fun graphing their M&M's before eating the data.
The class just finished reading Biographies and writing about the amazing lives of the special people they chose to learn about.  Some were Amelia Earhart, Walt Disney, Harry Houdini, and Judy Garland.
They also wrote persuasive stories trying to convince Froggy, a character from the reader, to go on vacation with them.  They are displayed outside the classroom on our Frog characters.
Students have saved their snack money to buy a flock of chicks that will help feed a poor community.  We reached our goal and are so happy to make a difference in others' lives.
When we returned after Easter break, we made "Dirt cups" as a special treat to wrap up our Plant Unit.
2A just received word that we won the Reading Contest at OLM!!!  Hooray!
Welcome to our school and experience the true sense of Mercy Spirit!
